Sperrgutversand
Für Einzelstücke, die nicht quaderförmig sind oder das Gurtmaß sprengen. Sie laufen nicht über die Sortieranlage, sondern werden separat gefahren.
Ideal für: Fahrrad, Möbelteile, Waschmaschine, Kinderwagen
Spedition, auf Palette
Ab etwa 40 kg oder mehreren Kartons lohnt sich die Palette. Sauber stapeln, wickeln, zurren, dann fährt die Sendung als Stückgut.
Pflicht für: schwere und großvolumige Sendungen

When is a parcel considered bulky goods?
Parcel services sort shipments automatically via conveyor belts. Anything that cannot pass through them safely is classified as bulky goods and incurs a surcharge. These examples show the most common cases.
Non-cuboid
Round, conical or irregular shapes tip over on conveyor belts and cannot be sorted automatically.
Bundled parcels
Packages strapped or shrink-wrapped together can come loose – they count as bulky goods.
Wooden crates
Wooden crates with metal fittings or straps are unsuitable for conveyor belts and can damage equipment.
Tyres
Unpackaged tyres roll away and block sorting systems – always book as bulky goods.
Rolls and tubes
Long, cylindrical postal tubes roll sideways and fall off belts – classified as bulky goods even if lightweight.
Sacks
Soft sacks without rigid outer packaging deform and cannot be scanned.
Bolts of fabric
Film-wrapped rolls are soft, long and slippery – a classic bulky goods scenario.
Illegible labels
Labels creased or stuck over edges cannot be scanned – the shipment requires manual handling.
Important: Bulky goods surcharges apply exclusively to parcel shipping via courier networks. There is no bulky goods surcharge for freight forwarding (pallets, part loads) or direct transport. With many rates, you can book the bulky goods service directly – where this is not available, choose a tariff with a bulky goods option. If you do not book bulky goods even though the shipment is bulky, the carrier will invoice the surcharge retrospectively.
