International shipping: send parcels worldwide with customs expertise

Cross-border shipping (e.g. USA, Switzerland, UK) doesn't have to be complicated. We guide you through the entire export process so your goods don't get held up in customs.

Commodity code

Determine the correct HS code – use our integrated commodity code search!

Export declaration

Create required documents digitally – we check whether all details are complete.

Label & documents

Attach shipping labels and customs documents securely to the parcel – everything from a single source.

Did you know? For goods values from €1,000 upwards, an electronic export declaration is mandatory for shipments to non-EU countries. Don't worry: we handle this bureaucratic process for you directly during your booking!

When is a parcel considered bulky goods?

Parcel carriers sort shipments automatically on conveyor belts. Anything that cannot pass through safely is classified as bulky goods and incurs a surcharge. These examples show the most common cases.

Non-cuboid

Non-cuboid

Round, conical or irregular shapes tip over on the conveyor belt and cannot be sorted automatically.

Bundled parcels

Bundled parcels

Packages strapped or wrapped together with tape or film can come apart – they count as bulky goods.

Wooden crates

Wooden crates

Crates made of wood with metal fittings or straps are unsuitable for conveyor belts and can damage the sorting machinery.

Tyres

Tyres

Unpackaged tyres roll away and block the sorting system – always book as bulky goods.

Rolls and tubes

Rolls and tubes

Long, round mailing tubes roll sideways and fall off the conveyor belt – bulky goods even at low weights.

Sacks and bags

Sacks and bags

Soft sacks without rigid outer packaging deform easily and cannot be scanned automatically.

Fabric bolts

Fabric bolts

Bales wrapped in plastic foil are soft, long and slippery – a classic bulky goods case.

Unreadable labels

Unreadable labels

Labels taped over edges or creased cannot be scanned – the shipment requires manual handling.

Important: Bulky goods surcharges apply exclusively to parcel shipping via parcel carriers. With freight forwarding (pallet, part load) and direct courier transports, there is no bulky goods surcharge. In many rates, you can book the bulky goods service directly – with some rates this is not possible, in which case you must select a tariff with a bulky goods option. If you do not book bulky goods even though the parcel is oversized or irregular, the parcel carrier will charge the surcharge retrospectively.
